The Ultimate One Tree Hill Tour

Updated: Feb 18, 2020

I have always been a traveler. Sometimes I want to travel to learn, sometimes it is to sit on the beach all day and do nothing. This time I went to see where my most favorite show, One Tree Hill, was recorded.

If you are planning a trip to Wilmington, NC and want to visit One Tree Hill filming sights here is your ultimate map. And yes, I am watching One Tree Hill as I create this blog post!

We stared our day off with Karen's Café. Corner of Grace St. and N Front St., Wilmington, NC 28401. It can be hard to spot because the building no longer has the burgundy foyers over the entrance way.

Lucas + Kieth's Accident Scene. 3rd Street and Princess Street. Who remembers the horrific accident scene where Lucas almost lost his life. They may have been the one of the few times fans actually cared for Dan Scott's actions as well.

After we finished in the city it was off to see each of their homes. First was Lucas Scott's house. 1829 Wrightsville Ave Wilmington, NC 28403

This is Lucas's house from seasons 1 to 6. In the earlier seasons, Karen, Lucas's mother, lives with him in this house, but she moves away to New Zealand and gives Lucas the house to himself in season 5. In season 6, Lucas gets married to Peyton and she moves in with him.

While people may think that in "The Worst Day Since Yesterday", episode 3.08, Lucas is not really painting the actual door of his house black, he is. Fans sometimes think otherwise because they know that it is only the outside of this house that is used as Lucas's house, while the inside was built and filmed in Screen Gems Studios. Here is a picture of the house that is used as Lucas's house on One Tree Hill. The door to what would be his bedroom in the show, is indeed

Second stop (within walking distance). Peyton Sawyer's House 1901 Chestnut St, Wilmington, NC 28405

This was Peyton's house from seasons 1 to 4. It is a one-of-a-kind, red-bricked house, and it is definitely one of the show's landmarks since so much happened there. This was the house where psycho Derek attacked Peyton, where Brooke and Peyton were held hostage by Derek, where Peyton got to spend time with her birth mother for the first time, and much more. Peyton's bedroom was one of her and Brooke's favorite places to hang out, and it was where Peyton kept all her music. Brooke lived here with Peyton a few times as well.

Third stop, right by Peyton's House. Haley James House. 1811 Chestnut St., Wilmington, NC 28405

In season 1, Haley and her parents, Jimmy and Lydia, resided in this house. In the show it is never mentioned or shown, but this house is actually located beside Peyton's house!

Next we drove a bit to Nathan Scott's house. 2709 Middle Sound Loop Rd., Wilmington, NC 28411

This house belongs to Nathan's parents, Dan and Deb Scott. In the early seasons, Nathan lives with his parents in this house, but once he emancipates himself, he buys his own apartment. This is where Dan would make Nathan practice basketball for hours and hours, and that is what made Nathan the amazing basketball player he is.

Before we knew it we were off to Brooke Davis's mansion! 2341 Tattersalls Dr., Wilmington, NC 28403

This is Brooke's house in seasons 1 and 2, and it is private property. Brooke loved this house since this was the house she grew up in. It was this house that gave her the nickname, "The Girl Behind the Red Door". In episode 2.17, "Something I Can Never Have", Brooke moves out of this house and moves in with Lucas and Karen in their house. From seasons 2 to 4, Brooke does a lot of moving. At first she stays and lives with Lucas and Karen,  but then she continuously switches from living in Nathan and Haley's appartment, Peyton's house, and Rachel's house.

The Rivercourt was used as a basketball court in all 9 seasons. In season 1, it was where the outsiders (Lucas and his friends) would have fun and play basketball. Over time, everyone started coming to the Rivercourt. Whether it was just to hang out, or to have a fun game of basketball, the Rivercourt was the place to be. Unfortunately, the Rivercourt has been demolished since the show has ended. It was located by the USS North Carolina Battleship, right behind the main parking lot. Although the Rivercourt is now nonexistent, it will always and forever be remembered by One Tree Hill's extremely dedicated fans.

The Rivercourt was a public location and was therefore only closed when it was being used to film a scene from One Tree Hill. Whenever nothing being filmed, hundreds of One Tree Hill fan would visit the Rivercourt to take pictures, play basketball, and even write messages to the cast of One Tree Hill so that they can be read when they were filming the show. There were always so many signatures and messages that it became a routine for the One Tree Hill crew to clean and wash away all of the writing on the Rivercourt a day prior to filming. At times, the Rivercourt was so covered in messages that it was pointless to clean up all of it, and instead the crew would just repaint everything.

Wilmington River Walk. Corner of S. Water and Market Street. Nathan + Haley's famous bench where they had their first tutoring session. Nathan also gives Haley his first gift ever here, his one-of-a-kind cereal box prize bracelet.

NEXT UP! Tree Hill High, 610 N Front St., Wilmington, NC 28401. Also known as, Cape Fear Community College.

We all know the famous intro Bridge: North 6th Street and Hanover Street

I hope you enjoyed this virtual tour of OTH filming sites! If you are planning a trip to Wilmington to view the sites yourself I hope you find this post to be helpful! It definitely was a trip of a lifetimes that I will never EVER forget!

Until next time

XOXO
